There is no such thing as organic makeup because the FDA does not have an organic program like the USDA. This means that anyone can put the word organic on any label of any cosmetic or beauty care product no matter what the ingredients

Http://www.organicconsumers has a list of the few body care/cosmetic companies out there producing real organic products.

What are some good organic shampoos for hair?

Anyone know any brands, and where I can get some good organic shampoo for hair?

You can find a selection at a health foods store. Places like Walgreens and Walmart might sell a few. Like all products, some are better than others. I prefer salon brands, though, and I use the Wen cleansing conditioner.

If you want a 100% organic shampoo, you'll have to look online. They're more expensive. Most "organic" shampoos that you find in stores are not 100% organic. "Organic certified" and "100% organic" are not the same thing.

The best hair products?

I already use tresemme hair products and shampoo i use between garnier, dove, and pantene. Depending on what i can get my hands on. And for conditioner i use sunsilk with extra tlc. What would be other great products besides these, because it think there is better products than these. SOMETHING I CAN FIND IN A DRUG STORE PLEASE!

Questions and Answers

Are there any natural ways to get rid of acne ?

With out using harsh over the counter meds.

Posted by djr
[display_name id=”1″]

Yes, in fact, there are several natural ways to help acne. I suffer from acne as well and I recently started going "all natural" (100% chemical-free) with my personal care products and makeup.

For the past month I have been using the Aubrey Organics skin care line for oily skin. The products I've been using are the Natural Herbal Facial Cleanser for Oily Skin, Natural Herbal Facial Toner for Oily Skin and the Natural Herbal Oil Balancing Mask for Oily Skin. (They also make a moisturizer for oily skin but I haven't bought or used that because my skin is too oily as it is). I use the facial cleanser and toner once a day and the mask once a week. It has been a little over a month since I started using the Aubrey Organic line and I can honestly say my acne has improved. My boyfriend told me the other day that he can see a difference too.

A little about Aubrey Organics… They are a company that uses only 100% natural, synthetic chemical-free ingredients in their products. You can find their products at just about any organic or natural food store (such as Whole Foods) or you can order the products through their website ( Http://www.aubrey-organics.com ). Their prices are decent too.

Another thing you could do is make your own facial cleanser, toner and mask using natural ingredients. I've actually been reading and researching this subject recently and I've learned a lot. The following essential oils are beneficial for acne prone skin:

-Lavender, Chamomile, Geranium and Sandalwood essential oils reduce swelling and irritation associated with acne.

-Tea Tree, Cedarwood, Lemon, Eucalyptus and Spanish Sage essential oils benefit oily skin prone to breaking out.

-Basal, Eucalyptus, Tea Tree, Cedarwood, Cypress, Lemongrass, Spike Lavender, and Ylang Ylang essential oils help normalize skin with overactive oil glands.

-*Lemongrass and Sage essential oils actually slow down oil production and and reduce sweating.*

-Another tip…Any citrus and mint essential oils are appropriate for use on oily and/or acne prone skin.

I got this info through a lot of research and reading on aromatherapy and natural remedies. A lot of the essential oil info for acne I got from the book "Aromatherapy for Dummies", which I highly recommend. Another thing is, be careful where you purchase essential oils from. Purchase them through a reputable company because there are companies who sell so-called "pure" essential oils, when they really are not pure and have additives in them. Simplers and Mountain Rose Herbs are highly respected and reputable companies which I recommend for purchasing essential oils. I've put their websites below.

A few more tips:

-Witch Hazel (either 100% pure or with a maximum of 14% grain alcohol) is a great astringent just by itself for oily/acne-prone skin. However, putting some drops of essential oil (like the ones listed above) in it can be even more beneficial.

-Unrefined & cold-pressed Neem oil is good for fighting acne.

As for a natural cleanser, Castille Liquid Soap (which is derived from plant sources), either alone or with a mix of Neem oil, Witch Hazel and essential oils is a great cleanser alternative to those harsh, chemical-laden "big brand" products.

For a mask, French Green Clay is great. French Green Clay has enormous absorbent powers due to the constitution of its micro molecules. It literally "drinks" oils, toxic substances, and impurities from your skin. Its toning action stimulates the skin by bringing fresh blood to damaged skin cells, revitalizing the complexion, and tightening pores. French Green Clay is marvelous for helping to clear problem skin. Use it daily on trouble spots, or weekly as part of a complete facial treatment.

I hope this helps. Good luck! :-)

I am a professional makeup artist and I have many high end clientel, I do photo shoots, weddings big events etc… I get paid to make people look good. I sometimes have very picky clientel that wants to know every ingredient in my products which is easy for me because I use what I consider to be one of the best NATURAL/organic mineral makeup brands and they don't use cheap fillers or harmful chemicals unlike other brands. I use a brand called Faerie Organic Minerals Http://www.faerieorganic.com My clientel loves it as it is very light (not thick and cakey) and leaves a healthy glow. It conceals imperfections and redness and looks really natural, it has natural SPF that can battle most high spf creams. You can get a sample kit with all you need to try it out for like $5.99. Check it out! ~

Natural ORGANIC makeup?

I want to start getting natural organic makeup… I'm starting to eat all organic foods and now want to go to make up. Where can I find some (online) that is safe and has no added chemicals or anything (or very little) that is decently priced.

Questions and Answers

What hair products are completely natural?

Can anyone advise me on hair products that are natural that are silicone and sulphate free. Most natural products I have tried still list sulphate or silicone in the ingridients and it makes me feel very cheated because they claim to be natural when they're clearly not. I have chemically relaxed afro hair so I need something that isn't damaging.

Posted by Munashe
[display_name id=”1″]

Hi Munashe,

Like you have experienced before, most natural products you find in stores have certain ingredients like silicone and sulphate. If you are going to look for a product anywhere, it will contain chemicals (even bottled water have chemicals – unbelievable). Anyhow, you could have a try and make your own hair products [URL Http://www.makingyourown.co.uk/make-your…

My advise to you is that, not just because something is 'natural' it will be good for you. Chemicals are found everywhere. Your hair is chemically relaxed and needs products that react well to such hair. Perhaps instead of looking for products that are completely natural, consider products that work for your hair. Its not about the product, its about your hair. Whatever it makes it look/feel/smell good is what you should have.

The key to not damage your hair is to treat it will love and care. Concentrate on deep conditioning your hair and keeping it moistured. Refrain from using too much heat. Wrap your hair at night and don't be lazy with your hair. Damaged hair is hair that is not treated right.

Remember, whatever your hair likes it what you should have. If you want natural products, make them yourself – and its guaranteed to be natural.

I hope I could help you out.

Please feel free to ask any questions @MalTati.

Are Organic Surge products actually natural ?

Hello,
I am swapping my current face/body/hair products to natural ones, usually I am buying everything from Lavera/Weleda/Logona, but their quantities are small (toners only 50ml, hair conditioners only 150ml…), I found Organic Surge when I was looking online for something new, this brand claims that all their products are natural and organic, but I am not sure if it's true… Are peg7 / peg20 and peg 40 ingredients natural? Http://www.organicsurge.com/PRD_ProductD…
Could someone tell me what to avoid when I am looking for natural ingredients?
I would really appreciate if someone could give me an advice.
Thanks.

Hi

Thanks for your enquiry about Organic Surge. Organic Surge products contain a blend of naturally-derived ingredients and certified natural fragrances or organic essential oils. It is the natural and organic fragrances that give the products their refreshing aromatic ‘surge’, both in the packaging and in use. To guarantee product quality, our formulations include a preservative system which has been proven gentle and safe through many years of use in similar products. It is a chemical system but is approved for use by organic certification bodies such as the UK Soil Association and EcoCert.

Organic Surge products contained PEGs when they first launched. Several customers told us that they would prefer us not to use natural or synthetic PEGs and to make the formulations as natural as possible, without compromising on performance or quality. Over the last year, we have therefore updated the formulations to do exactly that, for example our wash-off products, such as shower gel, hand wash and shampoo, are over 99% natural.

We are in the process of reformulating Pure Extracts Refreshing Toner and are currently selling the last of the original formula. When we next make this product it will be in the updated, PEG-free formulation.

Hope that helps,

The Organic Surge Team.

Natural products are always the best bet for taking care of not only yourself but also the earth. The variety of natural or organic products available are confusing to anyone. First of all let me try to help you with how to chose natural products. When you purchase products that say organic or natural, make sure to read the ingredients. Look for what natural ingredients like oatmeal, mushroom extract, honey, carrots etc are available in the product. Do not be under the notion that natural or organic products do not contain any chemicals. All skin and hair care products contain some essential chemicals that are harmless to your skin. Also, the best way to chose natural products is to chose the ones that contain natural fragrances as un-natural fragrance causes the most harn to your skin.

And now coming to the brand of natural products. Burts bees, Avalon Organics, Aveda, Yes to Carrots, Himalaya are all some of the up and coming products. You can always purchase these products online from their respective website if it is un-available in your country.

Hope this helps.

Of course not! Who told YOU THAT? People online trying to sell you hair products? Bloggers who are now having hair falls and more damaged hair? Heat & chemicals are hair's worst enemies.

Washing less often, builds the natural oil your hair needs, to get them smoother, shinier, silkier, softer. Man-made products are just temporary, until you wash them again, and at the same time washing off the natural oil your hair NEEDS. Hair products just absorb on your hair if they're dry, like a sponge.

The chemical is not new and is present in a number of brands of dark hair colours, acting to help adhere the dye to the hair so that it doesn't wash out. It’s made from coal tar and is used in both permanent and semi-permanent hair colours. Adding another layer of chemicals on top of the 1st or 2nd or 3rd dye, will only take you longer to get to your orig. Color.

Celebrity wears two-tone hair dye all the time, trying to grow out their dye. They call that look ombre hair color — darker roots, lighter ends — but colorists sees that fading. Women are wanting dimensional color with natural highlights that look like they've been playing out in the sun.

Getting a new hair colour?

So I want to get a new hair colour as my roots are growing out. My natural hair colour is black and I have dyed it brown. I was thinking of getting a strawberry blonde + pink ombre. But because my hair is now of 2 different colours (black roots + brown) and my colour is actually lighter on the top than at the bottom, do I have to strip my hair of my colour, bleach, then dye it? Or would I be fine with just bleaching it then dyeing it afterwards? I do not wish to damage my hair so using lesser products would be better.

Thanks!!!

Questions and Answers

Does a chemical product necessarily mean it's not natural (organic)?

There are some chemical products made of 100% natural sources…

Posted by Invasion
[display_name id=”1″]

I think that you are on very dangerous ground if your start to claim in a chemistry forum that only natural products are organic. By elimination then , all man synthesised compounds are not of nature and are therefore non – organic. The so called vital force theory of organic compounds was disproved probably 150 years ago. Unfortunately the green brigade has hijacked the term organic to mean exclusively something that has been derived from the living world. For some reason vitamin C or ascorbic acid which has been extracted from a lime is considered more worthy than the identical chemical compound which has been man-made by the thousands of tonnes annually in a chemical reactor.
In chemistry the term organic is used to define a particular sector of chemistry, little if any coming directly from living raw materials.

If you consider a chemical coming from natural sources, the most common would probably be the sodium chloride salt that we consume every day. But this is not an organic chemical, it is an inorganic chemical.

What are the top direct sales companies that sells green, natural, organic products?

For years, I've been searching for the best direct sale companies that sells green, natural, organic products. They all have their good qualities and as a customer, I love buying them all. But as a business perspective, I'm trying to find that one company more suitable for me. I want one that sells safe products for my children, family and home — no chemicals in laundry detergents, toiletries, household cleaners and hopefully a company that sells organic foods. Is there a company out there? I don't have time to make my own natural products and we really pay attention to the labels. We have tried some that say they are "green" but we could tell there are still chemicals in them. We have sensitive skin and are prone to allergies.

Buy Restaurants’ Excess Food For Cheap (psfk)

The excess food at supermarkets and restaurants often ends up getting thrown away even when they're still good to eat. About 30 to 40 percent of the food in the US gets wasted and wasted food costs everyone money. Wasted food doesn't help the environment either since most of the trashed food end up in landfills. Furthermore, throwing away excess food doesn't just waste the food itself, but it also translates to wasting the natural resources and materials that went into producing the food.
PareUp is an app designed to help reduce the amount of food that goes to waste. It is a mobile marketplace that connects people to restaurants and food stores that have excess food so that consumers can buy the food from these places before the stores throw them away. The restaurants and grocery stores can sell the food at a discounted price.
Founded by Margaret Tung, Jason Chen and Anuj Jhunjhunwala, PareUp aims to tackle the issue of food waste in a unique way by making it a win-win situation for the parties involved.
Through PareUp, shops and businesses can cut down on their waste and losses by earning from products that …

Organic vs. All natural.?

Call me a dumb-dumb but I don't completely understand the difference between the two. I've been shopping at an all natural/ organic/ health food store, I like it but I have some questions. …Such as:
Which is really better for you organic or all natural?
Is there really that big of a difference?
Could you recommend some good foods to me, please?

–Thanks ^.^

It is very difficult in America to determine what is truly organic and what is natural. We should be able to trust labels and buy natural foods and supplements. Our illustrious FDA is being headed by an ex-Monsanto executive that has successfully allowed ALL genetically engineered foods to be labeled as SAFE. Interestingly enough, Monsanto is making products and promoting this as a good thing in huge quantities. Over 40% of our food is now genetically engineered and thanks to the FDA, NO LABELS telling you that. Don't you think you should at least have a choice in what you eat? I do.

Unfortunately, 97.5% of all the bottled vitamins in health food stores have problems with them. They are either old from sitting on shelves too long (feather dusters are very popular in health food stores), contain toxic tagalongs added to pills like magnesium stearate that inhibits the absorption of nutrients by up to 80% and is an immune suppressant and trans fat (most pills contain 5% of the total ingredients of this garbage), improper mixture of ingredients that cause funny reactions or the nutrients to not work right, low grade nutrients like grade 1 or 2 instead of high quality grade 10 nutrients.

The so called natural ingredients can be things like MSG (monosodium glutamate) that causes lesions in the brain. Many so called natural products sold contain synthetic ingredients to boost the potency.

The best advice is to stay completely away from multivitamins, buy no pills or capsules from health food stores, and eat foods labeled organic (even though some are not really, it is better than the alternative), and cook your food in olive oil, walnut oil, palm oil, coconut oil, etc. Eat beef from grass fed cows only. Stay completely away from all SOY products and Canola. These are genetically engineered and terrible for you.

It is simply not easy to find good food in America. The U.S. Now ranks 24th in longevity. 23 other countries in the world have people that live longer than we do. 75% of all American die of heart disease. 30% are OBESE and 70% are overweight (fat). You cannot trust the so called experts because they are promoting products being pushed by manufacturers.

Good luck to you.

Do you think it's a good idea??

I'm 15 and wanna lose weight and be as healthy as I can be and have more energy to do things I would never do. What kind of foods should I consider buying. My mom thinks it's good I wanna be healthy and I plan on doing exercise and using all natural products on my body.

All organic and natural is a wonderful idea. Organic food is much tastier! As far as foods go, I find that the closer you stay to the source or nature of the food, the better. In other words, avoid processed food. Choose whole grains and whole wheat instead of white flour. Eat a diet rich in fruits, veg, whole grains, and make sure you drink plenty of water. If you go the vegetarian or vegan route, get plenty of protein from soy based products (tempeh, tofu) and other vegetables (lentils, broccoli). Try to get 1 hr of exercise a day, 4-5 times a week. Then you shall be on the path to good health and happiness. Best of luck!

Should I be using natural/organic personal care products?

Just curious. I don't use THAT many toiletries or personal care products, but I use toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, face wash, deodorant, and shaving cream pretty much daily. I also use lotion sometimes. So I was wondering if it's important health-wise to use natural or organic versions of these products. Thanks!

Natura's "Karma" is as organic as commercial dog food gets – only commersh food I know of that is the 95%+ organic neccessary to be USDA Certified Organic.

It is also as expensive as it gets. I've only seen it actually carried in one store, and it was $29.99 for a six lb bag.

I would imagine any store that carries Innova or Evo (same mfctr.) would be happy to special order you Karma tho.

Castor & Pollux Organix is fairly organic.

Natural Balance has an organic line now

Newmans Own has some organic ingredients.

Foods that don't meet USDA criteria will get themselves 'certified' by other agencies – but the credibility of those certifications is dubious, IMO.

ADD: Kirkland dog food is not the least bit organic. Ingredient list here:

I believe they both clean the same. Natural products dont normally come with the smell, organic products are not harmful if swallowed and they are pricier then regular over the counter products.

Do you use natural organic safe beauty products?

Unfortunately most natural products are hard to find cheap because they don't use cheap chemical preservatives. Try Aubrey Organics, Lavera & Lavera, Eccobella, Colorganics, Zia or Bare Minerals. Beware, a lot of products that say they are natural still use chemical preservatives and fillers. Even Bare Minerals uses them.

Awesome hair products?

I love my new hairstyle but it only looks good for maybe ten minutes after I style it and if I go out later at night it looks crazy bad and messy and gross! I don't usually like hairspray because I hate my hair feeling hard and crunchy. What are some good hair products that would help without making my hair feel like newspaper?
I have thin, fine hair..I don't know if that makes a difference.

[display_name id=”1″]

Hair products specially containing alcohol is very drying to hair.

You have thin, fine hair. Your hair needs lots of TLC's, even now that you're an adult now with adult hair, your hair still is thin, fine hair, so treat it like that of a baby's hair.

You can make it look thicker, by setting them in plastic curlers, blow dry briefly, let them cool, take the curlers out and tousle the hair or lightly brush. Since I don't know how long your hair is, once it awhile, try to do an up do hairstyle, it won't hurt the hair and use hair accessories just to make it more feminine. You don't have to wash your hair everyday, since you won't be using hair products.

What Are Good Hair Products For Coarse Hair?

Hair products are NOT made of glue to fix, prevent, reverse hair from getting damaged, or hair loss, or make them grow . . . . They are a trillion dollar business. They also do NOT give money back guarantee for damaged hair or hair loss caused by heat & chemicals – hair's worst enemies.
"No hair product can change the hair's biology," says Eric Bone, senior VP of global research and innovation @ L'Oreal USA. "Products that 'repair' them are like glue used to put a broken vase back together. At the end of the day, it's still broke," says dermatologist Paul J. McAndrews, MD, a clinical professor @ the University of Southern California School of Medicine. "Overall, products are a temporary fix, although some can help prevent damage. But your best bet is really to stop damaging hair, period."
Shampoo & condition the hair as usual, every 4-7 days, but continue to trim off the damaged hair, allowing new growth to take over. Use GENTLE shampoo. Applying a small drop amount of oil to wet hair can also act as a leave-in conditioner and provides excellent conditioning in preparation for the next shampooing.

I need good hair products?

I need A LOT of advice for some hair products. I need brands/names of each type of product that can make your hair silky, smooth, soft, and appear shiny and maybe thin, and possibly eliminate frizz.
Im not going to name a hair serum, but if you know one that would help with any of these, please go ahead and name it!

-Heat Protectant
-Shampoo and Conditioner
-Leave in Conditioner
-Anything else you know that works well such as serums, other sprays, mousse, etc.

I have medium thick hair, and sometimes it tends to frizz up and feels dry.

Hair products are not made of glue to PREVENT, FIX, REVERSE hair from getting damaged, or hair loss, but they will sell hair shine until your next wash.

Heat & chemicals are hair's worst enemies. For as long as you continue to use both, your hair will always be damaged even hair loss, and no heat protectant protects hair 100%. Like using sunscreen, you still get sunburned. Same with hair.

The hair industry is a billion dollar business, and they also do not give money back guarantee for damaged hair or hair loss caused by those 2.

BEFORE the 80's, the ONLY products sold on the shelves are shampoo & conditioner, gel like DEP and nothing else. Another way to find the secret to beautiful hair? Find someone with beautiful healthy curls or silky, shiny (not greasy) straight hair and ask him or her to share secrets, preferably someone who is 40-60 years older than YOU. I have 5 decades, so you're getting the answers you need, right here! I won't charge you a penny!

If you've got curly hair, using gel like SAMY sold @ Rite-Aid works well for scrunching the hair. In the morning, instead of washing them again, just spray with water & scrunch & you're good to go!

If you've straightened your hair in the past, it may grow slowly or none at all.
Google: "Foods for Healthy Hair" Http://www.foodforhealthyhair.com/ Http://sg.news.yahoo.com/food-for-health… – or 10 Best Foods for Your Hair.

NO MATTER which link you picked, they all suggest the same foods. Your hair may be the fastest-growing tissue in the body but, unlike the skin, it cannot repair itself. That is why getting the right balance of vitamins and proteins is imperative. Don't expect to look like you've stepped out of a hair commercial the day after you've changed your diet. It is likely to take at least three months before you actually see tangible results. Hair is dead, but hair also has electrical energy; the negative charge of damaged hair can lead to flyways and unruly hair.

Growing healthy hair doesn't come from a bottle or pills and hair products do not speed hair growth. Any hair oil, is another form to keep hair moisturized, nothing more. If you're in HS, your hair & nails should be growing normally, and as healthily as possible, since you're eating healthy foods. But when hair isn't growing as fast, it's because they've been tampered with: chemicals, hair straightening, etc. . .

How do you take care of Natural African American Hair ?

Posted by Girl
[display_name id=”1″]

Good question! Many blacks, including professional black hairstylists do not know how to properly care for natural hair. It's not common sense and it's something that needs to be learned. Firstly, you have to keep it moisturized and strong. You can keep it moisturized by doing regular moisturizing deep conditioning treatments (weekly, bi-monthly), or by using the baggying method (e-mail if you want more info on this, or you can google it). To keep it strong you need to do protein treatments. These are usually the anti-breakage products. Protein keeps your hair strong and helps keep its elasticity. Protein can also dry out the hair and too much protein can have negative effects, like breakage – same with too much moisture. You need to balance out the protein with moisture, so always follow a protein treatment with a moisturizing deep conditioner. I recommend Nexxus Emergency as a protein and Neutrogena Triple Moisture Hair Recovery Mask as a moisturizing deep conditioner. I use both of these products weekly.

There are also natural and raw ingredients you can use in your hair such as natural oils and butters. Cocoa and shea butter in their raw forms will give your hair a lot of moisture. You cannot find the raw ingredients in regular stores, so look for them online or in a health foods store. Shea butter can also be found in many African or Jamaican boutiques. Natural oils like olive, jojoba, and coconut oil are also good for your hair. Oils are used more to seal in moisture because they are not moisturizers. You use them to keep your hair from getting too dry, but not to moisturize your hair, so you'll add a moisturizer and then add some oil to seal in the moisture.

Personally, I stay away from the black hair care isle because many of these products that are supposedly for black hair are laced with some of the worst ingredients that you can put in your hair. Petroleum, mineral oil, and lanolin are the main culprits. If you find all three ingredients in one product then I recommend not using it. The same if it includes petroleum because it's just nasty and greasy and does nothing more than coat your hair. My favorite products are products that are for all hair types like Wen, Nexxus, Neutrogena, and Giovanni among many others.

You can get many product recommendations from natural hair message boards and websites. Good luck.

I dont know of any places

i stopped getting relaxers in 7th grade and i didnt have no help me transisition to natural, it can be hard because your hair can start to break where the natural hair and relaxed hair meets, keep getting your ends trimmed or you can just go for the big chop off!!!

What i did was use a product called stay soft fro, on the bottle it looks like sta.sof.fro or somethinf like the kind that is for extra dry hair comes in a brown bottle. It can be a lil drippy, but it is great for natural hair, my hair was so soft, people assumed my hair was dry because it was natural, my hair felt like cotton, it is a very good leave in conditioner, and it made the relaxed parts of my hair look less straight, so it blended in a lil more

having natural hair says so many things about us black women, people see us as being bold and having courage because we actually decided to have the guts to go "nappy" as they would say lol i hate that word. But until you get all your permed hair cut out u might wanna try maybe flat ironing your hair if u want. I flat iron my hair since i dont get relaxers, if u wanna know of a good flat iron email me, the website is folica.com u can look at all kinds of flat irons and they had this thing where it says top 10b best flat irons, the #1 was a 1 1/2 inch sedu it had the best ratings and everything, im gonna put a pic on there like everyone else, but it costs about 125, it works the best i have tried so many i mean my hair even moves like a white girls lol, that is how straight i get it.

But good luck goin natural email me if u like!!!!!
